Always Listening

We're proud to be Attune—a company that's always listening to customers, technology and societal trends. Here's what a few of our current customers and partners are saying about us these days:

William G. McLaughlin - Owner/Operator of Sunkissed Pool and Spa Service

My name is William G. McLaughlin, owner/operator of Sun Kissed Pool and Spa Service. I have been in the pool industry for over 20 years. I have been the Past President of the United Pool Association and I am currently the Chapter Representative and Vice President of the association. I am also a member of the California association of realtors, and the Palm Springs Regional Association of Realtors.

I feel that the BrioWave 175p and BrioWave 325p is the answer to a more efficient and energy saving pool filtration system; lowering energy costs for consumers and providing a healthier environment by reducing the amount of algae and harmful bacteria.

In my experience in the field, I find the major water problems are caused by poor filtration and reduction in water flow. This causes algae, bacteria, pool staining and cloudy water, resulting in a higher usage of chemicals. This also has the consumer running the pool equipment for longer periods of time. This is still less efficient, causing equipment replacement and plaster maintenance sooner than necessary.

This is why I feel that the BrioWave 175p and BrioWave 325p is the answer to lower energy, maintenance, and chemical costs while providing a healthier and more inviting pool and spa.

Swimming Pool Filtration

Filtration, the removal of particulate matter from the liquid phase, is one of the most important components of swimming pool maintenance. Particulate matter has a negative impact on the clarity and disinfection of the water. It is critical to ensure that the frequency and duration of filter operation are sufficient to keep the concentration of particulate matter at acceptable levels.

The challenge faced by pool owners is to balance water quality needs with the consumption of electricity. The filter and associated pump should be operated enough to maintain the quality of the water. However, excessive operation of the filter will result in a higher electric bill for the pool owner. A significant portion of a pool owner's household electric bill (e.g., 25% to 50%) is attributable to the operation of the filter pump.

Electricity and Peak Demand

The peak demand for electricity in a community is a key factor in determining the overall cost of electricity to individual consumers. Since electricity cannot be stored or stockpiled, like water in reservoirs, the electrical generation capacity of a region must match the peak demand for electricity in order to avoid interruptions in the supply. Smoothing out peaks in the demand for electricity results in lower costs for electricity.

For example, the slogan "give your appliances the afternoon off" was intended to reduce the peak demand for electricity. On the household scale, staggering the operation of major pieces of electrical equipment (e.g., air conditioners and pool equipment) will greatly reduce the peaks in the consumption of electricity. This will have a positive impact on the supply of electricity to the community by reducing the demand on the electrical generation system, which ultimately affects the cost of electricity to individual consumers.
